In England and Wales 'plaintiff' has not been used since 1999, 'claimant' has replaced it.
In Scottish law, 'plaintiff' is referred to as 'pursuer'.
In the United States, as well as in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the legal term 'plaintiff' is still in use.
