Def: the printing process when heat is applied to a heat-sensitive ribbon containing wax- or resin-based ink, the coloured ink ribbon is then heated over a certain area, and the melted ink is fully transferred from the ribbon on to the substrate
Example: Depending on surfaces, thermal transfer printing is sometimes preferred over direct thermal printing.
